WP Rocket for Agencies: License, Workflow and Client-Site Considerations

For agencies, the performance decision is less about one benchmark and more about repeatable setup, support burden and cost across a portfolio.

Think in cost per managed site

WP Rocket's current public Multi plan starts at 50 sites. Agencies should compare annual license cost with the time spent maintaining alternatives across client environments. A cheaper plugin can become expensive if every site needs a different workaround.

Standardize without pretending every site is identical

Create a conservative baseline configuration, then document exceptions for ecommerce, membership, multilingual sites and unusual hosting stacks. Standardization should reduce risk, not force the same aggressive settings everywhere.

Support and handoff matter

Client sites outlive individual projects. Keep notes on enabled optimizations, cache exclusions, CDN settings and known compatibility issues so another developer can troubleshoot without reverse-engineering the setup.

Portfolio monitoring

Do not rely on occasional manual PageSpeed checks. Track representative URLs and real-user performance where possible, then revisit sites after major theme, plugin or marketing changes.

When WP Rocket is a poor fit

A host-native stack may already solve caching and CDN delivery efficiently. In that case, adding another paid layer may create overlap rather than value. Evaluate by environment, not by brand preference.
